BEHOLD! In manly metal fashion, these men of Destroy Destroy Destroy take command on stage and perform with energy, leaving you feeling like you just drank ten Rockstars! Bryan Kemp brings it with crushing vocals and attire. Their influences range from majestic dragons soaring the night sky, swords clashing, thunder clapping, machine guns blasting, - Cheap ales, fast beers and faster women. Anything made of metal according to their myspace site.
We spent some time with the band recently in McCalla, Alabama while they were on tour with FOR TODAY. We learned several things about these guys. They love good times, The Club House in Texas, the As I Lay Dieing Strip Club (watch the interview for that joke) music, beer, women and getting naked at the beach. And you thought we would say long walks on the beach didn't you! Be sure to watch the interview to hear what happened to them the last time they were at the beach! We also learned that they have a no shirt policy during their performances so they don't smell as bad when they leave the show. I'm serious and it makes sense to me!
{mosimage}Musically, they are heavily influenced by Swedish and Norwegian Viking metal. However, you can see many other influences such as Iron Maiden, which they perform an amazing cover of Fear Of The Dark, Pantera and the likes on their myspace page. Destroy Destroy Destroy have shared the stage with many national acts such as Dying Fetus, Origin, Exodus, Overkill, Bleeding Through, The Red Chord, Mastodon, Himsa, The Showdown, Pelican, Cryptopsy, Death by Stereo, Every Time I Die, Converge, High On Fire, Darkest Hour, Municipal Waste, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, Trivium, and many other reigning metal bands from the south. Rarely will you find a group of guys that seem to fit together so well. Black Market Activities (Metal Blade Records)is one of the best labels out there for scouting out talent. Once again they came through with Destroy Destroy Destroy. Article continued......
Destroy Destroy Destroy came together in 2003 in the town of Murfreesboro, TN. The current line up is as follows:
They have 2 independently released EP's along with their full length DEVOUR THE POWER on Black Market Activities available for your listening pleasure and I highly recommend it. Makes great tunes for jamming in the ride. {mosimage}
{mosimage}Like any band, one of the things that bothers them the most on the road is when a promoter doesn't keep their end of the bargain. Promoters, you need to realize that these bands live off of your word and they drive vans pulling trailers that probably get between 8-9 miles per gallon. When you dump a show, they go in the hole because of what they spent in gas getting to the area.{mosimage} So, if you're a promoter - be honest and keep your word! If you do, you will never have problems booking bands and your shows will be awesome. It's that inconsistency that breeds problematic shows. It affects the kids as well and sometimes kills the scene because you cancel shows. If you have no money to back you and shouldn't be booking shows, then please leave it to those better qualified.
But seriously, these guys are full of heart and their souls are full of music. If you don't go see them on this tour, you are most definitely missing out. Their supporting bands, Epicurean and With Faith or Flames bring the backing required to make this tour a complete success.
